Multiple deputies have been shot in an active shooter scene in Douglas County, Colorado, Sunday morning.

CBS News reports that a Code Red alert has been issued in an area south of Denver. The Douglas County Sheriff said in a tweet Sunday morning that multiple officers were shot.
UPDATE, we have multiple deputies down, no update on their status. The scene remains active and please avoid the area.

Earlier, the sheriff department had issued a warning for residents to shelter in place while the scene remained active.

Authorities have not yet released any information about a possible suspect or what prompted the shooting.
