Pain doc rapes multiple patients at his clinic over a four-year period: Cops

A Virginia doctor is facing multiple felony charges following his arrest on suspicion of raping multiple victims over a four-year span.

According to WTVR, 50-year-old Mark Hormuz Dean is accused of victimizing patients at a pain clinic he operated in Albemarle County between 2011 and 2015.

A police statement indicates the Keswick man faces a total of five felony charges: two counts of rape, two counts of sexual penetration with an object and one county of forcible sodomy.

“Dean allegedly assaulted victims at the Albemarle Pain Management Associates Clinic,” said Albemarle County Police Department Public Information Officer Madeline Curott.

As of Friday evening, the same Dr. Mark Dean appeared to still be listed on the staff pages for the websites representing Albemarle Pain Management Associates and Charlottesville Surgical Center.

A WSET report indicated that the clinic where the crimes allegedly occurred was the scene of a police investigation Friday and was closed, as a sign on the door read, “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

An employee reached for comment was reportedly advised to reply to inquiries on the matter with “no comment.”

Dean was reportedly indicted on all five counts Friday by a Central Virginia Multijurisdictional grand jury and remained in jail as of the latest reports available.

“He is currently being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond,” Curott said.

Police are asking any other potential victims or anyone with information regarding the allegations against Dean to contact Albemarle police by calling 434-296-5807, as reported by WINA.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Curott confirmed.
