David and Louise Turpin

UPDATE: ‘House of horrors’ mom’s siblings share tales of booze, gambling and sexual trysts during her midlife crisis

A California woman, dubbed the “house of horrors” mom after she and her husband allegedly held their 13 kids children inside their home while starving and abusing them, began gambling and drinking at age 40 after a lifetime of abstinence, according to an exclusive report by Daily Mail.

Louise Turpin’s siblings, Teresa Robinette and Billy Lambert, spoke to the publication and confirmed that their sister had undergone a series of dramatic lifestyle changes as she neared 40.

These included dying her hair, making numerous gambling trips to Las Vegas with her husband David Turpin and, after a lifetime of refraining, beginning to drink heavily.

“Louise had never drunk a beer or smoked a cigarette or done a drug or anything like that in her whole life,” Robinette said. “Then one day, just as she was turning 40 she called and told me that she and David were going to have a drink.”

“When I spoke with her later that night she was drunk for the first time in her life. I was in shock.”

Robinette also said that it was around this time that her sister adopted even wilder habits, including the pursuit of other men, all with her husband’s approval.

“She told me that her and David had met a man online from Huntsville, Alabama. And they were on their way there to meet him and that she was going to sleep with him.” she said. “And that David was OK with that.”

Robinette has often wondered if the adoption of this wild period, which began nine years ago, is what eventually led the couple to allegedly commit such foul misdeeds.

“Once they started experimenting I wonder — and I have battled with this ever since I found out what had happened — is that what started this?” she asked. “Did they get into something that messed up their minds? I don’t know.”

Lambert has blamed David for brainwashing his sister into allegedly performing such horrific acts on 13 children.

“I would rather believe that David put this into her head, but I can’t because she grew up knowing this sort of thing was wrong. We were not brought up like this,” he said.

As previously reported by CrimeOnline, it has been alleged that the Turpin family moved to California in the hopes that Louise would become a reality star.

Louise and David, 49 and 57 respectively, face a litany of charges, including 12 counts of torture, seven counts of abuse of a dependent adult, six counts of child abuse, and 12 counts of false imprisonment. David is also charged with lewd act on a child under 14 by force or fear. They face 94 years to life in prison if convicted.

They have both pleaded not guilty. The couple is scheduled to appear in court on February 23.
