ALERT: Cops plead with public for help finding man accused of sexually assaulting 11-year-old girl in Walmart

Authorities in Virginia hope a tip from the public will help lead them to a man they want to question on suspicion of inappropriately touching a preteen girl at a department store last month.

According to WAVY, the man is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s.

Nofolk police believe he was inside of the Walmart store in the 7500 block of Tidewater Drive on Feb. 23 and sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl shopping with her family.

The alleged victim’s parents said the unidentified man was walking by the girl with the inappropriate contact occurred.

Detectives are soliciting tips from those with information possibly leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.

The Norfolk Police Department shared an image from the store’s surveillance system in an attempt to determine his identity.

In a tweet posted Friday afternoon, the agency also linked to a press release offering all of the information available regarding the case so far.

“Norfolk detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl,” the statement read.

The agency went on to report that the “victim’s parents told detectives that a man walked passed [sic] their 11-year-old child and inappropriately touched her.”

As WTKR reported, the suspect was last seen wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Norfolk Crime Line by calling 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
