Pregnant actress and unborn baby survive horrific crash that killed two toddlers

The family of a pregnant woman who was seriously injured in a car accident that took her four-year-old daughter’s life have released a statement confirming that her unborn baby survived the accident.

As the New York Post reports, a relative of Ruthie Ann Miles, a Tony-award winning actress who also had a key role on the FX series The Americans, sent a message from Miles’ Twitter account acknowledging the tragedy.

“Thank you for your prayers over our families and holding us in our pain. We are extremely grateful for your kindness and generosity,” the statement read.

“Ruthie is now out of ICU and healing, by all accounts it is a miracle our second child is unharmed.”

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Ruthie Anne Miles and her friend Lauren Lew were in a crosswalk in Park Slope, Brooklyn, with their two children when Dorothy Bruns of Staten Island ran a red light, running over the women and children. The driver reportedly dragged the little boy, Joshua Lew, behind her car for over 100 yards while he was still in the stroller. One-year-old Josh Lew, Lauren Lew’s son, and four-year-old Abigail Blumenstein, Miles’ daughter, were killed. Both of the mothers were injured but are now recovering.
