Nursing student found dead, ‘person of interest’ she previously dated flees country

Authorities found Binghamton University nursing student dead on Friday in New York, and the man she previously dated has reportedly fled the country.

FOX40 reports that 20-year-old Haley Anderson, of Westbury, Long Island, was found deceased at an off-campus home on Friday afternoon; authorities ruled her death as a homicide. Another nursing student, a man Anderson dated in the past, is a person of interest in the case, but authorities indicated he fled the country shortly before Anderson’s body was found.

Athena Anadnostakos, a co-worker who worked with Anderson at Binghamton University’s Jazzman’s Cafe, said that the victim was friendly and always smiling.

“She was a very good girl. She was friendly, joked around… we had a good time together. Everybody is sad. A lot of students came to New York together and they cried today. They were all so close.”

Binghamton Police Department didn’t reveal how Anderson died yet and there’s little known information surrounding the details of the tragedy at this time. Binghamton University officials released a statement that read authorities are currently investigating and asking anyone with information to contact them.

‘There is no threat to public safety at this time. The investigation is continuing at this hour. Anyone with information can contact the Binghamton Police Detective Division at 607-772-7080 or 607-772-7082.”
