BREAKING: Several fatalities in Miami bridge collapse — less than a week after it was built

A pedestrian bridge has collapsed at the Florida International University in Miami, reportedly killing several people and trapping cars underneath.

Florida Highway Patrol reportedly confirmed to CBS Miami that several people have died as a result of the collapse on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Miami Herald, the bridge was installed just this past Saturday on Southwest 109th Avenue as a way to make it easier for students to cross a busy street.

On Twitter, MSN reported that bridge was not yet open for pedestrian use.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
