Authorities in California confirmed Saturday that one victim was dead and another taken to an area hospital as a result of a shooting at a Thousand Oaks shopping center.
According to KNBC, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. at the Oaks Shopping Center.
Police say they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.

Police tweeted that the “situation is contained and there is no threat to the public.”
Ventura county firefighters reportedly joined law enforcement in responding to the emergency.

In a tweet on the topic, the Ventura County Fire Department confirmed one victim had died and described the scene as “static.”
At least one witness captured video of the police response outside of one of the mall’s entrances.
