Cops say daughter smoked cannabis, gouged mom’s eyes out with glass shards then placed the eyeballs on a cardboard box

A Florida woman is behind bars after she allegedly attacked and killed her mother, then screamed, “I’m a murderer, I’m a murderer!”

FOX News reports that 32-year-old Camille Balla is accused of gauging her mother’s eyes out with glass shards, then slashing the woman on the arms, legs, and chest. The victim, Francisca Monteiro-Balla, 55, died at the scene of the crime: in the garage of her Royal Palm Beach home off of the 100 block of Country Club Way. The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. Friday morning.

A colleague of Balla called 911 after the suspect called her and said she needed help and thought she may have killed her mother. When the colleague arrived to the home, she reportedly found Balla covered in blood.

When detectives arrived, they discovered the victim’s lifeless body covered in blood in the garage, surrounded by broken glass, with her eyeballs gouged out. While searching the home, they saw the eyeballs sitting on top of a cardboard box.

Authorities also found several handwritten notes that read “related to clearing of the soul” inside the home. The residence was filled with blood spatter and trails of blood throughout the hallways and rooms.

Police found the suspect still inside the home with large cuts on her fingers and palms. She reportedly appeared frantic, but would switch from being calm one minute to shrieking hysterically the next. As authorities placed her under arrest, she allegedly began chanting that she was a murderer. The suspect reportedly admitted to killing her mother after smoking marijuana she thought was laced with PCP.

Authorities took Balla to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for medical treatment. She was later taken to the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of suspicion of murder. A judge denied Balla bond and ordered her to undergo a mental evaluation, according to the Palm Beach Post.

During her first appearance in court on Monday, authorities quickly removed Balla from the courtroom after she glanced over at her family and started shouting in a foreign language.
