Authorities in Texas confirmed that the woman’s body found in a trash bin earlier this week has been identified as a 24-year-old mother named Camille Garcia.
According to the New York Post, the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office described her as a “young mother” but did not provide many additional details in an update provided Wednesday.
A passerby reportedly discovered Garcia’s body in a trash receptacle Tuesday afternoon in northern San Angelo.
Investigators had not included a cause of death in public statements as of Wednesday afternoon, as reported by KWTX.
Though the cause has not been released, reports indicate the death is being treated as a homicide by the sheriff’s department.
There had not been any arrests announced in connection with this case as of the latest updates available.
According to KMID, a local resident found the body in a dumpster and contacted authorities.
Reports indicate Texas Rangers aided deputies Tuesday in their preliminary investigation at the scene.
Authorities say the case remains active and investigators are soliciting tips from the public as they attempt to identify a suspect.
