The search for a missing Tennessee boy, presumed dead after his father reportedly confessed to killing him, has expanded past Dickson County and into a bordering area.
Patch reports that according to Hickman County Sheriff Randal Ward, search crews expanded over into Hickman County, where they continue to search missing 5-year-old Joe Clyde Daniels. Joe Clyde’s father, Joseph Daniels, who initially reported the boy as missing on April 4, later admitted that he beat his son to death with closed fists before putting him in the trunk of his vehicle and hiding him in a remote location.
Though this news is profoundly disappointing, we are grateful for the volunteers who gave time and resources this week to help search for Joe Clyde. That work will continue by law enforcement today, so we might provide a small degree of closure for his family and friends. pic.twitter.com/i8OmU0gte9

Joseph Daniels remains behind bars on a $1 million bond, charged with child’s murder. Joe Clyde’s mother, Krystal Daniels, is also behind bars on a $1 million bond, accused of knowing about the crime but failing to protect her child and report the death.
Meanwhile, neither suspect will tell authorities where the little boy’s body is hidden. On Wednesday morning, they appeared in the Dickson County juvenile and probate court, where they learned the Department of Children’s Services would take custody of their two other children, who are currently being cared for by relatives.
