MISSING: Teen boy likely on the run with former teacher facing sex battery charges

Mississippi police are searching for a former teacher and one of her male students who authorities suspect are together. The pair disappeared on early Monday morning.

SunHerald reports that former teacher Nicole Jackson, 30, who was arrested on April 10 and charged with “sexual battery while in position of trust or authority,” is believed to be on the run with Oscar O’Neal II, 16. Oscar was last seen by his mother at around 1 a.m. on Monday morning in their Hattiesburg home.

“There is an active warrant for Jackson’s arrest, and she is wanted by the Hattiesburg Police Department,” Hattiesburg spokesman Ryan Moore said.

Jackson resigned from her teaching position in April at the Earl Travillion Attendance Center following her arrest, which stemmed from a tip given to authorities in mid-March that she was likely carrying on an illegal sexual relationship with one of her students. Although the age of consent in Mississippi is 18, it’s illegal for anyone in a position of power, including educators, to have a sexual relationship with anyone under 18.
