Texas authorities issued a national AMBER Alert for a Houston girl on early Thursday morning, reporting she may be in extreme danger.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers first filed a missing persons report on Wednesday at around noon at the Harbor Town Drive apartments in southwest Houston. According to family members, 12-year-old Jennifer Castillo was last seen on Tuesday at around 7 p.m. when she left the family apartment to make a phone call.
Authorities later reported that they felt the girl is being held against her will and they are not treating the incident as a runaway case. Police also said that there was a “credible threat” made, which prompted them to issue an AMBER Alert.

Police are not giving too many details regarding a suspect or details surrounding the girl’s disappearance, as they don’t want to put Jennifer in any additional danger.
Jennifer is described as 5 feet tall, weighing around 100 pounds. She has brown eyes and long, curly brown hair. No one has heard from Jennifer since she left the apartment to make a phone call and she’s not answering her cellphone. Authorities said she may still be in the surrounding areas of Houston but she also has family connections in Honduras, where her mother lives.
Anyone with information on Jennifer’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Houston Police Department at 713-308-3600.
