[UPDATE] Man accused of hacking pregnant wife’s arms off with steak knife is arrested on border

Authorities in New York say the man wanted in connection with a brutal knife attack on his pregnant wife last week.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, 35-year-old Yong Lu allegedly used a steak knife to cut Yang Li’s arm off below her bicep.

The victim was rushed from the scene and placed in a medically induced coma at an area hospital.

After a touch-and-go situation Thursday, surgeons were reportedly able to reattach the limb.

Reports indicate the 35-year-old victim also lost two fingers on the hand of the other arm in the attack.

Though the suspect was able to escape, an update from WCBS revealed that he was arrested along the U.S.-Canada border on Saturday night.

The New York Police Department acknowledged the arrest in a tweet the same evening and thanked local law enforcement for apprehending the wanted suspect.

“Great job by @NYPDDetectives Regional Fugitive Task Force who apprehended Yong Yu tonight in the Niagra [sic] Falls area,” the agency tweeted.

A previous social media post provided a description of the suspect, confirming he was wanted for felonious assault.

According to the New York Post, at least one neighbor was shocked to hear of such brutal violence involving the couple.

“I’ve never seen them fight,” the woman said. “They get along really well. Mostly, they are really friendly. All the couples get along, but you never know what goes on behind closed doors. They are friendly, though. Very normal.”
