Chris Brown steps off stage after concert to find cops waiting to arrest him for felony battery

Chris Brown was arrested on felony battery charges following his performance at a concert last night, TMZ reports.

Brown, 29, performed Thursday night at Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, Florida, when authorities arrested him following the show, according to TMZ.

According to WPTV, Brown’s arrest on stems from an April 2017 incident, when authorities in Tampa allege that he punched a photographer while appearing at a club.

According to the station, Brown motioned for a photographer hired to take pictures at the club to get away from him. The photographer reportedly moved while trying to tell Brown that he was hired to take photos of the crowd. Brown then allegedly approached the man before punching him in the upper lip.

Online records show authorities booked the controversial singer into Palm Beach County jail at 11 p.m. Brown posted $2,000 bail less than an hour later and walked out of the jail, records indicate. 

This isn’t Brown’s first run-in with the law. The rapper became infamous following a 2009 physical attack on singer Rihanna, his girlfriend at the time. Police charged Brown with felony assault and making criminal threats in the case. After pleading guilty, he received a sentence of five years’ probation and six months of community labor, Billboard reports.

Brown is in the midst of a nationwide tour dubbed “Heartbreak on a Full Moon.” The next concert is scheduled for tonight in Tampa, according to his show lineup.
