The body of a deceased infant was found aboard a commercial airplane on early Tuesday morning at LaGuardia Airport, New York Post reports.
A “high-ranking police source” told the outlet that cleaning employees discovered the baby on an American Airlines Airbus A321 plane, located in Hanger 5 at Terminal B. The plane’s last flight, 1942, landed Monday night at LaGuardia fromĀ Charlotte, North Carolina.
While an NYC Medical Examiner is investigating the cause of the baby’s death, American Airlines tweeted that Terminal B could experience delays Tuesday morning.

FOX5 NY reports that the cleaning crew found the baby inside the bathroom of the plane, in the toilet. The infant’s age and other information regarding the incident is unknown at this time.
“As we continue to learn more about this tragic and sensitive situation, we are actively cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation,” an airline spokesperson said.
