A suitcase filled with what appeared to be human bones was found in Ocean Beach, Maryland, prompting a heavy police response at the popular tourist spot.
According to a report in Delmarva Now, a couple swimming at the beach noticed an item the looked like a suitcase floating in the water. CBS Local Baltimore additionally reports that someone walking on the beach called police after seeing a floating suitcase, with bones sticking out of it. The suitcase also reportedly contained personal effects which appeared to have been burned.
The Worcester County Sheriff’s office reported the discovery via Twitter on Tuesday morning.
A couple wading in the water off Homer Gudelsky stumbled accross a suitecase type object in the water. The object contained personal effects that appeared to be burned. Bones were also located in the suitcase.

Police reportedly sent a dive team to the scene to pull the suitcase from the water.
