BREAKING: Shooting at Westchester hospital ICU believed to be murder-suicide attempt

A shooting has been reported at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, Wednesday morning.

Law enforcement sources told NBC 4 that gunfire erupted at the hospital at around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The shooting appears to have been a murder-suicide attempt, and authorities told the news station that the situation is contained.

A reporter at News 12 Westchester said in a Twitter message that she spoke to an employee who said the shooting took place on the 4th floor, where the hospital’s intensive care unit is located.

It is unclear at this time if or how many people were injured in the gunfire. Authorities have not released many details about the shooting as an active investigation is underway.
