The daughter of a well-known film producer who has appeared on a reality show was found dead in the early hours of Tuesday morning following a night on the town celebrating her birthday.
The New York Daily News reports that Lyric McHenry was found dead in the Bronx at around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.
McHenry is the daughter of Doug McHenry, a film producer with credits that include “New Jack City” and “Jason’s Lyric.” McHenry had previously appeared on a reality show starring Magic Johnson’s son, and as a teenager had volunteered for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. She graduated from Stanford University.
Lyric McHenry was a smart, kind, successful, Stanford grad who held an extremely promising future. I’ve known her since she was a teen when she participated in a girls empowerment video I produced. She was one of the most dynamic young ladies I knew. RIP Lyric. You are loved. pic.twitter.com/KFdyjVmjsX

According to the Daily News report, McHenry was 20 weeks pregnant at the time of her death, and had turned 26 on August 6.
According to the report, McHenry had been celebrating her birthday the night before in New York City. It’s unclear how she ended up in what one source told the Daily News is an unsafe area of the Bronx. McHenry was reportedly found wearing a pajama top and underwear, and with a bag of cocaine.
Police reportedly suspect McHenry died of an overdose. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of her death.
