A West Virginia meteorologist is accused of shoving a news anchor on Sunday in a “bar brawl,” which ended up fracturing the anchor’s skull.
Charleston Gazette-Mail reports that Chelsea Ambriz (pictured right), 26, an on-air meteorologist for WSAZ, is facing a misdemeanor battery charge after she allegedly knocked Erica Bivens (pictured left) down, fracturing her skull and rupturing her ear drum.

According to FTLive, the incident occurred at a local bar after Bivens thought Ambriz was flirting with her husband, Donald. Ambriz is now facing “up to a year in jail and/or a fine of no more than $500” if found guilty.

“Erica advised she had problems with Chelsea in the past with her being aggressive,” the criminal complaint read. “Erica said her and her husband didn’t think anything of it until later in the evening, [when] Chelsea began to hit on Donald. Donald told Chelsea he was not interested in her and went back and stood with Erica……..Erica said Chelsea then became irate and began to shove Erica, causing them both to fall over in the bar area.”
Ambriz is scheduled to appear at the Kanawha Magistrate Court on September 21.
