The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation reports that Stevie Boyd, the non-custodial father of 3-week-old Steven Smith, is accused of abducting the baby from his mother’s home at the Peppertree Apartments, located off of the 4200 block of Graceland Avenue in the Whitehaven area of Tennessee. According to police, Boyd fired gunshots at the baby’s mother before fleeing with the child.
So far, no contact has been made with Boyd, but authorities are currently attempting to communicate with him, according to Memphis police. He’s thought to be in an apartment in the same complex where he reportedly abducted the baby. As a safety precaution, police asked people in apartment homes close to the one the suspect may be in to leave until the situation is contained.
(1/2) At 9:30 p.m. officers responded to a Kidnapping/Abduction Call at 4255 Graceland. Once on the scene officers were advised by the mother that the suspect/father took their son without permission. An Amber Alert was issued.
