Update: AMBER Alert issued for missing girl after parents found dead in home, possibly spotted with ‘well-dressed, bearded’ men

FBI says the girl is in ‘extreme danger,’ likely taken at gunpoint

Authorities issued an AMBER Alert for a Barron, Wisconsin, girl on late Monday, after authorities found her parents deceased in their home, CBS reports.

Police didn’t initially issue an AMBER Alert for 13-year-old Jayme Closs because they didn’t have enough information on the possible abduction. On Monday afternoon, they received a report that she may have been spotted in Miami in a black Ford Explorer with Wisconsin license plate number, I6OWER. A witness spotted the SUV at a gas station off of Northwest 27th Avenue and 11th Street.

The FBI has taken over the case, along with the assistance of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and the Barron County Police Department. Authorities said the little girl may have been taken at gunpoint.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Jayme disappeared from her Barron home after two adults, identified as her parents, James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46, were found dead a little after 1 a.m. Authorities haven’t released details on how the girl’s parents died but reported “gunfire” involved. Officers with the Barren County police found the victims after responding to a 911 call from the home.

According to Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, the 911 caller made noises in the background, but no one specifically spoke to the dispatcher.

ABC10 reports that the witness who may have spotted Jayme said she was with two “well-dressed” men with beards who looked to be in their 30s. They appeared to be around 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9-inches tall, weighing around 200 to 250 pounds.

“When we can find a 13-year-old girl safe, that’s our focus,” Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said on Monday. “I’ve been doing this for over 20 years and it’s a crime scene like I’ve seen before, but it’s one you rarely see.”

Jayme is described as a white female who stands 5-feet tall, weighs around 100 pounds, and has green eyes and strawberry blond hair.

Anyone with any information on Jayme’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Barron County Sheriff’s Department at 715-537-3106 or dial 911.
