DEVELOPING: Suspicious packages at Time Warner building prompt second evacuation in 2 days

The day after CNN headquarters in New York City were evacuated upon the delivery of a suspected explosive device, the Time Warner Center was again partially cleared in response to a pair of suspicious packages.

According to CBS News, a bomb squad responded to the scene on Thursday evening after receiving the report.

Though initial reports suggested the building’s ground floor had been evacuated, police later confirmed that it remained open. Several retail establishments are housed in the mall on the first floor of the building.

“[Emergency Service Unit] and the NYPD bomb squad are on scene,” tweeted New York Police Department Public Information Officer J. Peter Donald. “More info when available. The first floor of the mall remains open.”

The suspicious “pair of packages” were reportedly found on the third floor, which was evacuated along with the second floor.

One of several bomb threats this week involved the intended recipient of a package sent via CNN’s headquarters in Time Warner Center. Discovery of that device prompted a larger evacuation on Wednesday morning.
