Multiple news outlets are reporting of an active shooter in the basement of a synagogue in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood.
Local Pittsburgh news station KDKA reports that seven people were killed and at least two police officers were shot during a Saturday morning service The Tree of Life Synagogue, which is not far from Carnegie Mellon University. The death toll may continue to rise.
Police have reportedly exchanged gunfire with the suspect, but it does not appear that the gunman has yet been apprehended.
A CBS reporter said in a tweet just after 11 a.m on Saturday that the shooting is still going on.
