A police officer in Davis, California, who was sworn in only five months ago was fatally shot after responding to a car accident.
The Associated Press reports that Natalie Corona, 22, was fatally shot on Thursday evening after reporting to the scene of a traffic accident near downtown Davis, which is west of Sacramento.
A manhunt for the gunman led to a home near the site of the shooting, where the suspect reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a standoff with police.

Officer Corona was reportedly sworn in this past August, and NBC News reports that she was on the job for only a few weeks before she was killed.
Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect or any information about a possible motive.
