A Nebraska man is behind bars after he reportedly sexually assaulted a young boy at home daycare for four years. The state shut the daycare down amid investigations into the matter.
NBC reports that 62-year-old William Harrison is charged two counts of first-degree sexual assault on a child after the victim told authorities he was around 8 years old when Harrison first had sex with him. The assault allegedly continued for four years, with Harrison forcing the boy to perform sexual acts on him. Harrison also performed sexual acts on the boy, according to court documents.
The victim was enrolled at Deb’s Day Care, off of 8328 Bedford Ave. in Omaha when the abuse occurred.
Harrison’s wife was the owner of the daycare, which served as both their residence and a daycare. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has since shut the down the daycare after issuing an emergency order.

The reported sexual acts occurred between December 14, 2014, and December 13, 2018, with the most recent abuse reportedly occurring just a week prior to Harrison’s arrest last Friday.
According to the arrest affidavit, Harrison is accused of warning the boy that if he told anyone the daycare caregiver “could go to jail and could die.”
“Offenders really work at building that relationship with a child and maybe playing silly games with them or things that will break down their defenses just a touch,” Project Harmony Senior Director of Response Services, Colleen Roth, told the outlet.
Parents of other children who attended the daycare are now worried. Many of them have called Project Harmony, scared something may have happened to their own child. Taylor Troia, an adult now who attended the daycare as a child, is scared something may have happened that she doesn’t remember.
“Since it was so long ago, something could have happened. I just don’t remember. It just makes me sad and terrified.”
Meanwhile, the boy’s mother told ABC that the Harrison couple treated them “like family” during the times her son attended Deb’s Day Care. The boy even called the suspect “Grandpa.” She said Harrison’s wife claimed she had no idea her husband assaulted the child.
The boy started going to the daycare as an infant, according to Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine.
“It’s extremely disturbing to see this happen at the place where parents take their children to, to be taken care of,” Kleine said.
