A Connecticut mother died Monday night at a New York City subway after she fell down a flight of steps while holding her 1-year-old daughter in a stroller, police said.
The New York Post reported that Malaysia Goodson, 22, suffered the fatal fall at 7th Avenue B/D station at 8 p.m. Goodson was reportedly pronounced dead at the hospital; police said her toddler daughter, Rhylee, wasn’t injured in the fall.
WFSB reported that officers found Goodson unconscious with her conscious daughter on a southbound platform. WNBC noted that this particular station doesn’t have an elevator and only has an escalator that goes up.

It’s unclear whether Goodson had a medical condition that played a role in Monday’s incident. A city medical examiner will determine her cause of death, according to reports.
The New York Times reported that the 1-year-old was reunited with her father and grandmother.
