13-year-old boy found dead at his middle school of apparent suicide, cops say

Authorities in California say a 13-year-old boy is dead following an apparent suicide at his middle school on Tuesday morning.

According to WPIX, the unidentified boy was found at Don Juan Avila Middle School in Aliso Viejo at about 6:30 a.m. and emergency personnel were on the scene a short time later.

Carrie Braun, a spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, said on Tuesday that the incident remained under investigation and was being handled as a likely suicide.

No other injuries were initially reported and city officials said locals need not worry about a continued threat to public safety.
