Authorities in North Carolina continue their search for a 39-year-old woman whose car was last seen near Lake Wylie late last week.
According to WLOS, Vatsla Watkins was reported missing after her 2004 Mercedes C230 sedan was found in a private marina’s parking lot on Friday.
Investigators indicated that Watkins’ name had been circulating as a possible missing person as early as the day before the car was found. Authorities responded to the scene at about 9 a.m. Friday and an employee at the marina told reporters the vehicle had likely been parked at the location for several days.

Part of the initial search included deploying boats into the lake to search a 20-yard perimeter. Helicopters joined in from the sky and search dogs looked for a scent in the area surrounding the marina.
Officials have reached out to the missing woman’s relatives in an effort to collect evidence about her possible whereabouts.
As of the latest updates available, none of the efforts have resulted in tangible leads and police are refraining from any public speculation regarding what might have happened to Watkins.
Police describe her as 5 feet 4 inches tall with brown eyes and black hair. Her last known appearance included blue jeans and a lightweight, dark colored jacket.
Anyone with information relevant to the search is encouraged to contact authorities, either by dialing 911 or contacting Crime Stoppers by calling 704-334-1600.
The missing woman is married to Curtis Watkins, the former chair of the Mecklenburg County Republican Party, as reported by Heavy.
