Two injured and one dead after gunfire erupts during baby shower, suspect on the run [Police]

One person is dead and two others are in the hospital after what was supposed to be a relaxing baby shower in California turned violent, according to police.

CBS Los Angeles reports that the incident occurred off of the 1500 block of North Shelly Avenue in Upland. On Saturday afternoon, guests gathered at a baby shower that lasted into late night, when a group of uninvited people showed up and began arguing with someone at the home.

After an argument broke out, three people sped away from the home after a male started shooting a them. Police arrived to the home after reports of gunshots and saw the car peeling away, according to NBC 4. The car crashed a block or so away at Sierra Vista Elementary School.

Three people inside the vehicle were rushed to a hospital with gunshot wounds. One victim is undergoing surgery after being shot numerous times. Another victim was shot once and has non life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the car passed away.

The victims’ names have not yet been released, but authorities said all three were between the ages of 18 and 22.

According to KTLA 5, a neighbor said they saw rocks and bricks being thrown shortly before gunfire erupted. Police continue to search for the shooter.
