A woman in New Jersey is accused of brutally murdering her five-day-old infant.
Pix 11 reports that police responded to an emergency call at a home in Little Ferry in Thursday. Hiralbahen Bhavsar, 29, reportedly made the call to report she was having a medical emergency, and had locked herself a bedroom when police arrived — while several other family members were elsewhere in the apartment.
When Bhavsar emerged from the room, police reportedly found her five-day-old newborn dead with injuries suggestive of knife wounds.
Just hours before, Bhavsar had posted a family photo, including the newborn, on Facebook.
“I just can’t even imagine how you’d do this to your child,” a neighbor of Hiralbahen Bhavsar just told me.

She is now facing murder and weapons possession charges.
It is unclear at this time what motivated the shocking killing, and if Bhavsar was experiencing any psychological issues following the birth of her baby.
“I saw her yesterday and she was looking OK, normal,” a neighbor told Pix 11. “But I I think she must be going through some sort of depression, because no mother could do this to her child.”
