According to KUTV, Alex Whipple’s attorney Shannon Demler said the suspect had led police to the body believed to be that of his niece Elizabeth Shelley.
Police have not yet confirmed the discovery of the remains, but are expected to host a press conference later Wednesday with updates on the investigation.

Investigators have found a body believed to be that of missing 5-year-old Elizabeth Shelley.
KUTV reports that human remains were found at 500 W. and Center Street, reportedly about a quarter of a block from Elizabeth’s home in Logan, Utah, where she was last seen early Saturday morning.
According to the report, an attorney for Alex Whipple, Elizabeth’s uncle and the main suspect in her disappearance, confirmed the discovery of remains. Earlier Wednesday, Logan police announced murder and kidnapping charges against Whipple.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story said that the body was found a quarter mile from Elizabeth Shelley’s home, but according to a more recent report, the body was found a quarter of a block from the home.
