Active shooter: 2 teens reportedly shot, mall and train stations shut down as police swarm in search for suspects

Officials in the San Francisco area urged people to stay away from the area near Tanforan Shopping Mall on Tuesday and disrupted public transit through the community in response to reports of an active shooter.

According to KPIX, a witness recalled hearing about eight gunshots.

As Bay Area Rapid Transit announced on Twitter, the local train station had been closed and trains were not being taken through that point in the line as authorities swarmed the vicinity. Furthermore, the 12th Street Station in Oakland was reportedly closed as investigators searched that location for a possible suspect.

As Heavy noted, San Bruno police issued a similar notification to locals traveling in the area.

“Please stay out of the Tanforan area – San Bruno Police Department is on scene investigating a shooting,” a tweet read. “We will update when we have more information. Thank you.”

Ahead of a planned news conference, local reporters indicated that two teens were taken from the scene of the shooting to San Francisco General Hospital and two other victims were transported to other area hospitals.
