PREVIOUS STORY:
Accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein died after being taken to the hospital from a Manhattan jail overnight on Friday, two weeks after he was found in a fetal position in his jail cell with marks on his neck, suggesting a possible suicide attempt. Multiple sources are reporting that Epstein died by suicide.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Epstein was taken from the Manhattan Correctional Center on Saturday morning. According to developing reports on Saturday, Epstein may still have been alive at the time he was taken to the hospital, as photos published in the New York Post show that his face is exposed and medical staff appear to be working to revive him.
According to the Daily Beast, Epstein, 66, was pronounced dead at the New York Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan Hospital.
On Thursday, thousands of pages of documents related to Epstein’s federal sex trafficking case were unsealed.
Epstein’s death has prompted questions regarding his status in the jail, as he had reportedly been under 24/7 suicide watch. According to ABC News, Epstein had been on suicide watch since July 23, following the previous, possible suicide attempt.
According to Fox News, the initial call placed regarding Epstein’s death cited cardiac arrest. The specific cause of his death remains officially unconfirmed, but ABC News posted a tweet on Saturday morning reporting that three law enforcement sources said Epstein died by hanging.

On social media, many are questioning the circumstances of Epstein’s death, including Michael R. Bromwich, former Inspector General for the Department of Justice, who called for an investigation, and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
