Authorities in Illinois said a 7-year-old girl was shot in the chest while trick-or-treating on Thursday night
Citing Chicago police, the Chicago Tribune reported that the gunman is believed to be a member of the Gangster Two-Six gang who was aiming at a Latin King when he wounded the girl twice as she walked down the street with her father.
Police said the 32-year-old target was walking near the costumed child and was hit in the hand. Officers located him nearby but he reportedly refused to cooperate with their investigation.

Police said the girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but has been stabilized.
Lali Lara, 25, told The Tribune that she was working at a nearby cell phone store at the time of the shooting. She recalled taking the injured girl and her family in the store and pressing on her chest to stop the bleeding.
Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said during a news conference on Friday that they are seeking a person of interest and multiple suspects in the shooting. Since then, The Tribune reported that authorities have a juvenile person of interest in custody in connection with Thursday’s incident.
The suspected shooter was reportedly wearing a white “Jason” mask at the time. Earlier, Johnson said investigators might have identified the shooter, crediting surveillance footage and tips from the community.
