Vanessa Morales: Heavy police presence, search of donation bin related to missing AMBER Alert toddler

Police have identified the woman found dead in the girl’s home this week and confirmed she is Vanessa’s mother

Police activity in Hamden, Connecticut Thursday may be connected to the search for a 1-year-old girl who was missing from a home where police found a dead body on Monday.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, state police issued an AMBER Alert on Wednesday for Vanessa Morales. Police responding to a welfare check found the body of a woman who has since been identified as Christine Holloway, according to NBC Connecticut. Police have reportedly confirmed that Holloway, 43, is Vanessa’s mother. A medical examiner determined that the woman died of blunt force trauma.

On Thursday, the AMBER Alert issued the previous day was updated to correct the spelling of the missing toddler’s name, which had previously been reported as Venessa.

According to the NBC Connecticut report, local and state police have been present in Hamden, Connecticut, on Thursday. WTNH reports that police are there to follow up on a tip involving a donation bin that may be connected to the homicide and/or missing persons investigation.

According to that report, Hamden police arrived to the scene first, and State Police Major Crimes later arrived.

This is a developing story. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
