The 16-year-old girl whose apparent abduction Monday night prompted an AMBER Alert has allegedly confessed to staging her own kidnapping.
Citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the investigation, CBS2 reports that Karol Sanchez admitted to police Tuesday afternoon that she helped orchestrate that apparent kidnapping Monday night. Surveillance camera footage in the Bronx showed the teen walking with her mother when a car pulled up alongside the pair, and one of two men pulled Karol into the vehicle while her mother tried to fight them off, but was pushed to the ground.
Karol re-appeared on Tuesday afternoon near the scene of the abduction, and reportedly approached a police cruiser, witnesses told the New York Post.
According to the CBS2 report, the teen said she was unhappy at home and staged the abduction with four accomplices, who police are trying to track down.

Police have not filed any charges, and are reportedly looking to speak to multiple people before determining if anyone will be charged with a crime.
