Heidi Broussard, the missing Austin mother found dead in the trunk of a car on Thursday was strangled to death, the Harris County Medical Examiner has determined.

NBC News reporter Sam Brock confirmed the medical examiner’s finding early Friday evening. As previously reported, 33-year-old Magen Fieramusca, reportedly a close friend of Broussard’s, is in custody and charged with two counts of kidnapping and one count of tampering with a corpse.
Authorities have not yet announced any murder charges in the case.
