Teen boy from Idaho town where Lori Vallow lived with her missing children disappears, leaves note saying he ‘won’t forget’ his family

Police believe someone picked up the 14-year-old boy at or near his home

Update, June 10:

Police in Rexburg, Idaho, are continuing to search for a missing teen boy who is suspected of having run away nearly a month ago.

Rexburg Police Assistant Police Chief Gary Hagel told East Idaho News this week that he believes Colton McMinn is staying in Idaho Falls, after being reported missing from his Rexburg home in mid-May.

“He’s elusive,” Hagen told the news outlet. “We’re just looking for him like any runaway.”

Rexburg police did not immediately respond to CrimeOnline’s request for more information about the missing persons investigation. We will update this story as more information becomes available.

Anyone with information about Colton’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Rexburg Police Department at (208) 372-5001.

Original story:

An Idaho teen is missing and his family discovered an ominous note he left behind before presumably running away.

East Idaho News reports that Colton McMinn, 14, was last seen at his Rexburg home at about 10:30 Thursday night. At some point that night or the next morning, McMinn’s family found a note he left, apologizing to his family. He reportedly said he would keep their photo with him and that he would not forget them.

According to the report, police say they believe McMinn is a runaway, and that someone picked him up. The report does not indicate whether police are searching for a particular vehicle or are treating anyone connected to his disappearance as a suspect.

Colton McMinn is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 134 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair, and may be wearing jeans, a hoodie, and a cowboy hat with cowboy boots.

The town of Rexburg has been in the news in recent months because Lori Vallow was living their with her two children, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow. Both children were last seen in September, and Vallow is now in an Idaho jail facing felony child desertion charges.

Anyone with information about Colton’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Rexburg Police Department at (208) 372-5001.
