An overnight shooting in Alabama has left seven people dead, in what police are calling a heinous, targeted incident.
WAFF reports that residents in a neighborhood off of Talucah Road in Valhermoso Springs called 911 around 11:35 p.m. on Thursday after hearing gunshots coming from a home. When police arrived, they discovered a house burning with four people and a dog inside.
The victims, three men and four women were all shot. Some were shot multiple times, according to authorities. None of the victims survived the shooting.
Morgan County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Mike Swafford said that they are currently following leads, in hopes of learning more details. As of now, no suspects have been named.

“We don’t have a motive at this time. We don’t have a determined suspect at this time,” Swafford said. “Investigators are following leads to piece together exactly what happened and who was involved. We can say we don’t believe there is an active threat to anybody in the area.”
Swafford added that whoever went to the home, went there with the intention of shooting every person inside.
“Incredibly heinous, talking cold-blooded,” Swafford said. “Our theory right now is whoever did this, came in here for a reason, did it and left.”
[UPDATE 3:30am] Homicide investigation continues. No immediate threat to the public in the area. Scene is secure. Seven fatalities. Adult males and females.
