Detectives have arrested the parents of a 3-year-old girl found dead on her back porch in Saint Paul, Minnesota, after the father called 911, Saint Paul police say.
Officers were sent to an address in eastern Saint Paul at about 2:30 a.m. when a man called the police non-emergency number and said something about needing a crisis officer before hanging up, according to KIMT3.
When officers arrived, they spoke to the man, who said that he believed his 3-year-old daughter was dead on the back porch, police said. Police found the girl unconscious and unresponsive and called paramedics, who pronounced her dead.
The department said five other children in the home, ranging in age from 9 months to 11 years, were placed into the custody of Ramsey County Child Protection, and both parents were taken to police headquarters for interviews.

Investigators are still processing the house for evidence “that will tell the story of what led to this death,” police said. The Ramsey County medical examiner will provide a positive identification of the child as well as cause and manner of death.
