A mother who reported her son missing has now been arrested and charged with murder, as investigators seek to recover the child’s body from the Ohio River.
As Fox 19 reports, James Robert Hutchinson’s mother reported the 6-year-old boy missing from his home in Middletown, Ohio, on Sunday. Police there initially began to search for the boy near his home, but during police questioning, his mother allegedly admitted to killing the boy and throwing his body into the Ohio River.

According to court documents obtained by the Journal-News, 29-year-old Britney Gosney told police that she killed her son a few days prior in Preble County. Her boyfriend, James Hamilton, allegedly helped conceal the crime.
“The child’s body was brought back to Middletown, where they live, and later put into the Ohio River,” Middletown police wrote.
Gosney has been charged with with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. Hamilton, 42, has been charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
Authorities have not yet publicly commented on a possible motive for the apparent murder.
Investigators are now focused on recovering James’ body from the Ohio River. Police told Fox 19 that his body is believed to be in area of high, rough water, and police are declining to share the precise location of the search in the interest of public safety.
