A California mother is pushing for answers after her 23-year-old daughter disappeared in Florida while vacationing with her boyfriend.
NBC 6 reports that Angela Morrisey was last seen at the Bayside Market Place in Miami on March 28. She was on vacation with 23-year-old Amir El-Badry at the time of her disappearance. El-Badry claimed Morrisey into a bathroom while they were waiting on a boat tour and never returned.
“We were in line for the boat and she went to go use the restroom and I just didn’t see her after that,” El-Badry told Local 10 News.
Morrisey’s mother, Darnella Melancon, said that El-badry has changed his story several times since Morrisey’s disappearance. El-badry acknowledged that he told authorities a different story than what he told Melancon, but said he had his reasons.
“I understand that the story I told to the Miami police department and to my mother-in-law are different, but I had my reasons for doing so that I don’t care to disclose,” El-Badry said in a text statement.
Melancon said El-Badry initially said Morrissey walked into a bathroom at around 8 p.m. while he waited outside for her. He later allegedly admitted that he got into a fight with Morrisey, then went alone on a boat trip. When he returned from the boat trip, El-Badry reportedly found Morrissey’s phone in a store.

After the boat tour, El-Badry reportedly took an Uber back to the Airbnb they were staying at in Miami Beach. When Morrisey was not there, he called authorities for help.
According to Assistant Police Chief Armando Aguilar, El-Badry’s story aligned with other evidence and he’s not considered a suspect. Melancon, however, says she’s still left with a lot of unanswered questions.
“At this point, I just don’t have a full picture of what exactly really happened between them, how severe was this fight that you all went your separate ways in a strange town. You knew she didn’t have a telephone with her and you decided to go on a boat ride without her when the whole vacation trip was for them two. He was supposedly supposed to be proposing to her the following day.”
Indian Country Today reports that Melancon, who was babysitting the couple’s two children, said she texted with her daughter almost daily. Morrisey would call to check in on the children, Melancon said, then on March 28, the messages stopped.
On April 9, Miami Beach authorities released security footage of Morrisey at a Marathon gas station in Hialeah. The date on the security footage appears to say March 29, the night after Morrissey was reported missing.

Melancon told Indian Country Today that although Morrissey didn’t appear upset in the footage, “something was off about her gait.”
“I don’t care where you are… I will come and find you, and pick you up, and take you home. This is my daughter’s picture, and there are flyers circulating. But I’m just asking again, anyone that has seen my daughter or knows of her whereabouts. Please get in touch with me,” Melancon said.
Morrisey is described as a Native American female who stands 5-foot-5-inches tall and weighs around 145 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing white shoes, a black shirt with a white design on the front, and black shorts.
