According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Jontae Adams was conscious and alert after he was shot in the torso area. His mother Lawanda McMullen told the news paper that Jontae called her right after the shooting.
“He said, ‘Ma, come get me. They just shot my baby,’” McMullen said.
Police reportedly believe the shooting was gang-related. Law enforcement sources told the newspaper that another shooting at a Popeye’s restaurant later Sunday, which left two people hospitalized, may be related to the fatal McDonald’s shooting.
