BREAKING: ‘Cult Mom’ Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell charged with murder of Tylee Ryan, JJ Vallow and Chad’s wife Tammy Daybell

Both Vallow and Daybell are charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and grand theft by deception in the death of both Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow.

A grand jury in Idaho has indicted Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell for the murder of Vallow’s children Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow, as well as Daybell’s wife Tammy Daybell.

According to the indictment obtained by East Idaho News reporter Nate Eaton, Vallow and Daybell have been charged with numerous counts including conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and grand theft by deception, as well as first degree murder.

The married couple had previously been charged with conspiracy in the deaths of Tylee and JJ, who were found dead on Daybell’s Salem, Idaho, property in June 2020. They had not been previously charged in Tammy Daybell’s death. According to the indictment, as East Idaho News reports, Daybell is charged with first-degree murder in his wife’s death, and Vallow is charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of Tammy Daybell.

Tammy Daybell died in October 2019, weeks before Vallow and Daybell married. She was 48 years old and had no known health conditions. Daybell reportedly told police that he woke to find she had died in her sleep, and declined an autopsy. Tammy’s body was exhumed in December of that year. Authorities have not yet released the cause of death.

Indictment, Daybell and Vallow by EKilloran

Both Vallow and Daybell are charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and grand theft by deception in the death of both Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow.

Daybell also faces insurance fraud charges in connection to his wife’s life insurance policy.

Tylee Ryan, 16, and JJ Vallow, 7, were last seen alive on separate dates in September 2019. The affidavit for Daybell’s initial arrest indicates that both children died shorty after they were each last seen. Investigators searched Daybell’s property after a cell phone data analysis showed that Alex Cox, Vallow’s since-deceased brother, was at Daybell’s property on two dates in September. Less than a month later, Tammy Daybell died suddenly, and Vallow and Chad Daybell married in Hawaii later that fall.

The children were never reported missing, and police did not begin an investigation until November 2019, when they went to Vallow’s home in Rexburg to perform a requested welfare check. At that time, both Vallow and Daybell lied to police about JJ’s whereabouts, claiming that he was staying with their friend Melanie Gibb in Arizona. Gibb initially went along with the lie, but about a week later contacted police to confess that JJ Vallow had not been in her care.

In December 2019, the day after Tammy Daybell’s body was exhumed, Alex Cox died suddenly of what authorities determined to be natural causes related to a heart condition. Cox fatally shot Vallow’s former husband Charles Vallow in July 2019, claiming self-defense. He was not criminally charged.
