State prosecutors allege that an Ohio student at a standout Christian school raped a classmate while she was sleeping
According to a criminal complaint filed at the Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, 18-year-old Crosley MacEachen saw the victim sleeping at her home in Symmes Township, where he proceeded to undress and have sex with her. The victim said she woke up to find herself undressed while the suspect was raping her.
The incident happened on December 6, 2020, prosecutors said.
“She pushed him off of her and realized she was naked, despite wearing clothes when she went to sleep,” court documents read, according to Cincinnati.com.
On a prior occasion, in November 2020, MacEachen allegedly grabbed the same victim’s buttocks in a Sycamore Township home. The victim reportedly said that she sat down on the bed but when she tried to get up, MacEachen pushed her back down.
The Daily Beast reports that MacEachen’s attorney, R. Scott Croswell III, denied the allegations and said he plans to “aggressively defend these charges.”
MacEachen is committed to the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where intends to play football. A University spokesperson said that the school is aware of the pending charges against MacEachen, but the suspect’s current status at the school remains unclear.
The head coach at MacEachen’s school, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, previously described the suspect as “one of the most dynamic football players that I’ve had the pleasure to coach.”
The Christian school sent out a message after learning of the rape accusations.
“CHCA has learned of an investigation which has resulted in charges filed against a former student. The alleged incident did not occur on school property nor during a school-sponsored event. CHCA is saddened for the individuals and families affected by this alleged incident, and our prayers remain with them.”
MacEachen has since bailed out of jail on rape and related charges. He’s expected to be in court Wednesday for a pre-trial hearing. No trial has yet been scheduled.
