Battered Girlfriend Kills Abusive Boyfriend After He Makes Bond for Previously Assaulting Her: Police

*This is a developing story and will be updated as additional information becomes available.*

A Texas woman fatally shot and killed her boyfriend Sunday during a domestic violence incident in northwest Harris County, police said.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, officers were dispatched to a call at an apartment complex off of Bammelwood Drive in Harris County on Sunday. Inside the apartment, they found a 27-year-old male shot to death.

Click2Houston reports that the officers found the victim’s girlfriend inside the apartment, who reportedly said that the victim had just been released from jail on bond and had started abusing her. While he was allegedly assaulting her, the pair began fighting over a gun, which ultimately discharged. A bullet struck the victim in the torso.

Police reportedly said that the pair had a history of domestic issues. The man was out on bail after allegedly assaulting the woman in October.

It’s unclear if anyone has been arrested. The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office, which will decide what charges, if any, will be filed.
