A New York funeral home said on Thursday they plan to hold a service for Gabrielle Petito this weekend, but events occurring in Wyoming — where Petito’s body was found on Sunday — may lead to services being placed on hold.
News Nation Now reporter Brian Entin tweeted that Moloney Funeral Home is handling Petito’s funeral services, and they may be able to provide more information later today.
While a page has been set up for Petito, 22, on the funeral home’s website, it does not include details about her funeral services.
Just spoke with Moloney Funeral Home in NY.
They say they are hoping to have services for Gabby Petito on Sunday. Because of some circumstances that have come up in Wyoming, services could be on hold. They will know more later today.— Brian Entin (@BrianEntin) September 23, 2021
On Sunday, Petito’s body was discovered at the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming. An autopsy that was conducted on Tuesday determined her preliminary manner of death was a homicide.
Petito’s boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, remains unaccounted for since apparently leaving Wyoming in their camper van in late August and driving back to Florida. His parents claimed he left their North Port home on September 12 and went to the Carlton Reserve, a 24,000-acre preserve in Sarasota County.
On Thursday, police’s search for Brian Laundrie at the nature preserve entered its fifth day. While he is considered a person of interest in this case, he has not been criminally charged in connection with Petito’s death.
