The Twitter post from NBC News reporter Shawn Reynolds notes that the remains were found near a backpack believed to belong to Brian Laundrie.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, items belonging to Laundrie were reportedly found Wednesday at the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park, which is adjacent to the Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County, where Laundrie’s parents told police their son went for a hike on September 13, without ever returning.
The articles were found the day after the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park was re-opened to the public after weeks of searching. Following the discovery of the items, the Sarasota County Medical Examiner was called to the scene.
There is no further information at this time about the identification of the remains.
This is a developing story and all information is preliminary. CrimeOnline will provide further updates when more information is available.
