Update: Suspect Accused of Abducting 1-year-old Baby Remains Elusive, Police Release Security Footage

Police continue to seek tips about the person responsible for stealing an SUV in Georgia last week, with a 1-year-old boy inside the vehicle.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, the  Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced last Thursday afternoon that 1-year-old Blaise Barnett has been found safe. So far, there’s no word on who abducted the child, but officials said he was found at a home off of Rogers Street in Clarkston.

Blaise was abducted on November 10 as he sat in a car seat, wrapped up in a grey blanket inside the vehicle. The incident happened at the Parc 1000 apartments off of Montreal Drive in Clarkston.

Clarkston police officials confirmed that the stolen SUV hours later. According to AJC, a tipster found the Explorer at the Brannon Hills Condominiums, a vacant complex off of Memorial College Avenue. The toddler’s car seat was still inside the vehicle and the keys were found inside a cupholder in the SUV.

According to Fox 5, police found the baby inside a van at the Clarkston home, around a mile away from his own home. A woman who lived at the residence discovered the baby inside her van when she returned from grocery shopping. She promptly contacted the police.

The suspect, however, remains elusive.

Security video taken by a nearby convenience shows someone driving away in the vehicle. Authorities are currently doing a forensic investigation on the vehicle to find any evidence that could lead to the suspect.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Clarkston Police Department at 404-557-8956 or 404-292-9465.
